You Me At Six have released a new music video for their anthemic track ‘Straight To My Head’ – and it’s a first for the alt rockers.
Forming in 2004 and celebrating the 10th anniversary of their first album this year, the five-piece from Surrey have ventured into the world of animation with the new lyric video. Inspired by their favourite show, Adult Swim’s phenomenally successful cartoon Rick and Morty and animated by James Wragg and Matt Entecott, it’s set in space and has similar style to the cult show. It also includes references to their previous videos in the form of floating objects such as bowling balls (‘Back Again’), handcuffs (‘Loverboy’), a shovel (‘Stay With Me’), a petrol pump (‘No One Does It Better’) and loads more.
The song itself is a pop-infused hit that holds a mighty chorus through which Josh Franceschi’s vocals shine. Taken from their sixth album VI released in October, the track in particular received high praise with Indie Is Not A Genre calling it a “YMAS classic” yet still “refreshing”, while Dead Press! commented “With this arena anthem, it’s obviously apparent that they never lost their ability to write a chorus big enough to fill stadiums.”
